The MEDC announces RFP to assist with merchandise design and e-commerce site shopper experience

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Economic Development Corporation today announced a request for proposals (RFP) to assist with merchandise design, as well as the shopper experience for the Travel Michigan e-commerce website. MEDC is seeking a contractor to help carry out these duties.

The e-commerce site, puremichiganstore.org, will seamlessly link out from homepage michigan.org via a new browser window. The site will not share a michigan.org URL. MEDC, as the owner of the Pure Michigan mark, will continue to exercise control over the way the mark is used, including – but not limited to – the form in which it is displayed, merchandise on which the symbol appears and the method in which said merchandise is distributed and sold.

Important Dates:

  • April 1, 2019 – RFP release
  • April 8, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. – Applicant questions due via email
  • April 10, 2019, by close of business – Responses to all qualifying questions will be posted on the MEDC’s website, https://www.michiganbusiness.org/265000
  • May 6, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. – Electronic proposal submission deadline

With the popular advancement of Michigan merchandise companies, consideration for a different platform of distribution with a reputable Michigan company is an opportunity to further improve the state’s promotional efforts.

Travel Michigan, a division of the MEDC, is the state of Michigan’s official agency for promotion of tourism. The industry contributes $24.7 billion in visitor spending to the state’s economy annually, accounting for nearly 224,500 jobs and generating $2.7 billion in state and local tax revenues. The selected proposal will complement the Travel Michigan multimedia marketing program aimed at increasing traveler visits and spending.

The RFP is available online at michiganbusiness.org along with specifics on the application process. Proposals must be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. on May 6, 2019.

Potential bidders are invited to submit questions via e-mail to contractsandgrants@michigan.org. E-mailed questions must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. pm on April 8, 2019. Responses to all qualifying questions will be posted online at https://www.michiganbusiness.org/265000 by the close of business on April 10, 2019.
