Muskegon County African American Civil Rights Historic Resources Survey and Public Education Project
The MSF is seeking a contractor (the “Contractor”) to conduct a survey and inventory of historic resources associated with 20th Century African American Civil Rights movement (the “Survey”) in Muskegon County, Michigan (the “County”). The Survey is funded through a 2019 grant from the National Park Service (“NPS”) African American Civil Rights of the 20th Century grant program. The contractor will develop a comprehensive historic context for the 20th Century African American Civil Rights movement in the County, as well as identify, research, and evaluate associated historic properties. The contractor will utilize the National Historic Landmark theme study, Civil Rights in America, and the National Register of Historic Places Criteria for Evaluation. Additionally, the Contractor will work with the NPS and State Historic Preservation Office (“SHPO”) staff.
