U.S. Air Force veteran turned entrepreneur Mike Carey shares his “bottom line” advice for budding entrepreneurs looking to expand and grow their businesses in Michigan.

In 2015, Mike Carey co-founded ATLAS Space Operations with the goal of revamping and enhancing commercial satellite communications through new-age aerospace technology. Mike now serves as chief strategies officer for ATLAS and is tasked with the company’s growth and innovation.

Headquartered in Traverse City, ATLAS contributes to the region’s economic diversity by tapping into the rapidly expanding aerospace industry. The company has been named by Morgan Stanley as a Top 12 Space Industry Disruptor and works with partners like NASA and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

In this edition of 3 Takeaways, Mike shares this advice for entrepreneurs looking to launch and grow their businesses in Michigan.

  1. Establish values. Know your core values and goals because they are what will perpetuate your success and motivate you through the challenges. They are what made you a dreamer in the first place.
  2. Don’t give up. Obstacles are often self-imposed. You can find your way through anything if you try. Something may block you from your goal, but don’t let it stop you from achieving it.
  3. Put family first. Don’t forget about your family. At the end of the day, they are everything.
