3 Takeaways with Susan Hawkins of Henry Ford Health System

With the goal to keep patients healthy and improve low cost outcomes, Susan Hawkins, Senior Vice President of Population Health at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, takes us through her three takeaways for entrepreneurs looking to engage and partner with her organization. As an agent of change, Susan has extensive experience in designing and implementing large-scale, innovative changes to strategies and processes.

In this 3 Takeaways video, Susan provides helpful tips to entrepreneurs who are in their season of pitching companies to partner with and support their business.

  1. Come to the meeting prepared. For entrepreneurs who are nervous about heading into a matchmaking meeting or a presentation, one way to relieve those nerves and exude confidence is to be thoroughly prepared for the meeting. This can be achieved through knowing about the company that you are hoping to match with – browse their website, do your research on current projects and strategies that are currently being worked on and know the people in the room.
  2. Remember to remain focused on your organization and goals, no need to distract the audience by name dropping or incorporating other company logos that take away from the structure of your pitch.
  3. The follow up is just as important as the initial meeting. It is perfectly appropriate to follow up through an email or by phone just in case there are any outstanding questions or support needed. This simple task ensures that your company is remembered and differentiates your organization from those who chose not to follow up.
