The Plymouth Historical Museum offers a variety of programs including toys and games of long ago, Native Americans of Michigan, a field study of communities, a time line of community history, the Erie Canal and its effect on the settling of Michigan, the Underground Railroad and Abraham Lincoln, and the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln.

The Friends of the Porkies is a nonprofit organization that represents the interests of all users of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The Park has a breathtaking 60,000 acres of natural beauty located in Ontonagon County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A drive from Ontonagon along the shoreline of Lake Superior for about 20 minutes will bring you to the “Porkies.”

Port Huron Museum

Port Huron St. Clair

The Port Huron Museum has a number of field trip programs. The first field trip available is the general tour of the Port Huron museum. Another program offered is the USCG Cutter Bramble tour which takes students on a tour of a decommissioned coast guard cutter. The next opportunity is the Thomas Edison Depot which shows students on an informative history lesson through Thomas Edison's life and time at Fort Gratiot Station on the Grand Trunk Railroad. Also available is a tour of the Huron Lightship. The final program is Log Cabin Pioneer Days. Students learn what life was like for Michigan pioneers in the 1850’s in an authentic German log home. They will make soup over an open fire, bake cornbread, churnbutter, dip candles, create a tin punch and make journal entries with a feather pen.

Port of Ludington Maritime Museum

The Port of Ludington Maritime Museum brings history to life with digital storytelling, authentic images and artifacts, and engaging interactive exhibits that entertain, enlighten, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the region’s maritime history. Located in the former U.S. Coast Guard Station, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this family-friendly, three-story museum overlooks Lake Michigan’s wild shoreline, Ludington’s iconic North Pier Light, and the historic car ferry Badger, extending the maritime experience beyond its doors in this vacation wonderland. The museum is operated by the Mason County Historical Society, which also operates the nearby Historic White Pine Village.

Presque Isle Township Museum Society

Presque Isle Presque Isle

Visit 3 registered historical sites: Old Presque Isle Lighthouse, New Presque Lighthouse & 1905 House Museum. Climb the tallest lighthouse open to the public on the Great Lakes. Visit the fully restored 1905 Keeper's House to see how the keeper's family lived. Explore the haunted 1840 lighthouse and view its many artifacts. Meet "life-like" Lighthouse Keeper, Elmer Byrnes, and listen to his story. Enjoy a nature walk through a beautiful cedar forest. Have a picnic. Dip your toes in Lake Huron and watch for passing freighters. Explore a fully restored Keeper's House and read the daily logs. Check out a 1905 kitchen. Ring a ship's bell. Pose for a picture in the stockade. Search through the many photographs from the 1800's. Visit our two gift shops located in the lighthouses. We offer education and recreation and peaceful relaxation.

Free backstage tours offer an insider’s look at running a professional theatre and provide learning opportunities for guests of all ages. Groups of 15 to 50 visitors can enjoy a full-access tour of the theatre – including backstage areas, scene shop, business offices and more – as well as Q & A with Purple Rose staff, live demonstrations of technical elements, an overview of Purple Rose history and insight into actor rituals and theatre traditions.
