MEDC is comprised of employees with diverse backgrounds and specialties. In addition to business and community development specialists, MEDC has its own legal, marketing, and strategy and research teams, as well as other departments that help the organization run smoothly, including information services, human resources, facility services and more. Our Teams
Business Development & Business Services
These teams retain and grows existing Michigan businesses and work to attract new businesses to the state by delivering customized programs, services and materials that leverage and showcase the state’s economic assets.
Community Development
This team creates vibrant, sustainable and unique places by providing economic development services and programs to attract and retain talent in Michigan communities.
Financial and Administration Services
These teams manage all processes, policies and procedures for accounting, payments, finance reporting and procurement as well as ensures a healthy, safe and productive work environment for all MEDC employees.
Legal and Compliance
Provides due diligence review, assisting with negotiations, drafting and closing contracts, grants and loans, risk management and compliance support.
Marketing & Communications
Promotes Michigan’s image as a preferred business location and travel destination through a range of strategic marketing and communications activities, including advertising, social media, digital media, events, media relations, and tourism initiatives.
Strategy, Planning & External Affairs
These teams provide research and analytics, policy development and project management services. They also manage state and federal relations with legislators, Michigan’s Congressional delegation and interested stakeholders.
Administrative Operations
The IT team provide the tools, initiatives and system upgrades to bring the latest, most secure, dependable and innovative IT infrastructure to support our teams. The HR team oversees all aspects of employment such as payroll, recruitment, labor relations, employment standards, training, and organizational development.
Creative Industries
The Film & Digital Media Office and Michigan Council for the Arts & Cultural Affairs promote Michigan’s vibrant arts and cultural scene as important to the state’s communities, excellent quality-of-life and thriving economy.
