Michigan continues to grow as an economy of the future and continues to devote significant funding and effort to the proactive development of sites across the state and has build-ready options available for companies looking to bring or retain jobs in Michigan.

The MEDC launched the 2025 round of the MI Sites program in April 2025, selecting 14 industrial properties for site readiness designation. MI Sites is a comprehensive site readiness program focused on identifying, analyzing, and marketing the most developable industrial sites in Michigan. Selected properties receive access to technical training and hands-on guidance to help each site advance along the readiness pathway. To date, nine participating properties from the 2025 cohort have achieved Bronze designation, adding to the seven sites selected in 2024, where six earned Bronze and one earned Silver.
Building on this progress, the MEDC will launch the 2026 round soon to continue expanding Michigan’s portfolio of competitive, investment-ready sites.
Michigan Ready Sites
In April 2025, the MEDC announced a new incentive program to aid proactive site readiness. The Michigan Ready Sites Program is a dual-tracked program with site readiness awards (“grants”) aimed at boosting Michigan’s inventory of investment-ready sites and technical assistance grants to identify and prepare sites to compete for projects through engagement of consultants, engineering firms, and other similar entities.
This program was previously known as the Build Ready Sites Program. The transition from Build Ready Sites to Michigan Ready Sites is effective as of April 22, 2025.
Strategic Sites and Buildings
Team Michigan takes a proactive, collaborative approach to increasing site readiness across the state. This includes assembling and controlling land, conducting comprehensive due diligence, completing preliminary engineering and cost estimating, and initiating early site preparation activities. These efforts help ensure that strategic sites and buildings are positioned to respond quickly to business attraction and expansion opportunities, strengthening Michigan’s portfolio of development-ready locations.
