Agape Plastics, Inc. expanding in Tallmadge Charter Township, adding 54 jobs

MEDC announces MSF actions to support the expansion of an injection molding facility in Tallmadge Charter Township

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation today announced Michigan Strategic Fund actions to support the expansion of an injection molding facility in Tallmadge Charter Township, a project that is expected to generate $14 million in private investment and create 54 jobs.

“The decision of Agape Plastics to expand further in Tallmadge Charter Township demonstrates Michigan’s business-friendly environment and talented workforce. It is thanks to many public and private partners that this project is taking place, and we are pleased to support that collaboration,” said MEDC Chief Executive Officer Steve Arwood. “This investment will provide excellent employment opportunities for Michigan residents and will create a long-term positive impact on the local economy.”

Agape Plastics, Inc., located in Tallmadge Charter Township (Ottawa County), specializes in custom injection molding and assembly supplying the automotive, furniture and equipment industries. The company plans to construct a 57,600 square foot addition to its current manufacturing facility in Tallmadge Charter Township, investing $14 million and creating 54 jobs. As a result, the project has been awarded a $300,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over a competing site in Ohio. “Agape Plastics, Inc. has been a member of the Ottawa County community for more than three decades, employing our family members and neighbors. This is an example of a productive use of economic development dollars to maximize community benefits,” said Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof (R-Olive Twp.). “Agape Plastics, Inc. will bring over 50 new jobs to Ottawa County for our hardworking Michiganders. This partnership among the state, township and private industry will be a significant benefit for West Michigan.”

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality supported the project by approving the relocation of a DEQ conservation easement and providing assistance with the conservation easement mitigation process.
