State of Michigan’s Pure Michigan Talent Connect to host largest MiVirtualCareerFair to date on Nov. 12, 2014

Job seekers and Michigan employers can connect with each other through a state-sponsored virtual career fair on Wednesday, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LANSING, Mich. – Job seekers and Michigan employers can connect with each other through a state-sponsored virtual career fair on Wednesday, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pure Michigan Talent Connect’sMiVirtualCareerFairs bring together Michigan employers and talent from across the state and the globe in an online, virtual environment.

Since 2012 over 165 employers and 24,415 job seekers have been connected through the state’s thirteen sponsored events. With assistance from the Michigan Works! System and event sponsor Capital Area Michigan Works!, jobs with 41 Michigan employers in varying industries will be featured in the November event, making it the largest to date. 

“With more than 80,000 jobs currently posted on Pure Michigan Talent Connect, MiVirtualCareerFairs are a means for small, medium and large size companies to connect to talent from across Michigan, the nation and the globe,” said Amy Cell, Senior Vice President for Talent Enhancement at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “As a strategy to help connect talent to opportunity, MiVirtualCareerFairs provide a platform for job seekers to apply for Michigan jobs, explore career development resources and interact with hiring staff in a virtual environment.”

There’s no cost for job seekers to participate. Registration information can be found at www.mitalent.org/virtualcareerfair. During virtual events, job seekers can explore customized employer booths, interact one-on-one with participating employers and search and apply for job opportunities. In addition, job seekers can access information about career development programs and resources in the event Auditorium and Resource Lounge. Out of state candidates can connect with staff at the Hometown Michigan booth to learn more about living, working and playing in Michigan and veterans can connect with staff at the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) booth to learn about veteran’s benefits in Michigan.

“The diversity of companies participating in the MiVirtualCareerFair shows there are jobs out there, especially in greater Lansing,” says Edythe Hatter-Williams, CEO of Capital Area Michigan Works!. “From finance to engineering to IT to healthcare and construction, companies in a range of industries are hiring, meaning a diverse pool of qualified candidates is needed.”

All job openings posted during the events are accessible to participants for 30 days after event. Post-event, employers receive in-depth analytics including candidate resumes, applications, chat transcripts, and booth visit data, which further solidify connections made during the event.
