Job seekers and Michigan employers can connect with each other through a state-sponsored virtual career fair on Wednesday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LANSING, Mich. – Job seekers and Michigan employers can connect with each other through a state-sponsored virtual career fair on Wednesday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pure Michigan Talent Connect’s MiVirtualCareerFairs bring together Michigan employers and talent from across the state and the globe in an online, virtual environment.

“MiVirtualCareerFair is another innovative tool to connect employers with qualified talent. With more than 80,000 jobs currently posted on the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, MiVirtualCareerFairs provide an opportunity for job seekers to apply for Michigan jobs, explore career development resources and interact with hiring staff,” said Amy Cell, Senior Vice President for Talent Enhancement at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “Since 2012, the state’s twelve virtual career fairs have connected more than 140 employers and more than 20,750 job seekers.”

There’s no cost for job seekers to participate. Registration information can be found at www.mitalent.org/virtualcareerfair. During virtual events, job seekers can explore customized employer booths, interact one-on-one with participating employers and search and apply for job opportunities. In addition, job seekers can access information about career development programs and resources in the Pure Michigan Talent Connect booth and event resource lounge. All job openings posted during the events are accessible to participants for 30 days after event. Post-event, employers receive in-depth analytics including candidate resumes, applications, chat transcripts, and booth visit data, which further solidify connections made during the event.

Jobs with 35 Michigan employers in varying industries will be featured at the August 27 event, making it the largest to date. With assistance from the Michigan Works! System and event sponsors Detroit Regional Chamber and MICHauto, the August 27 MiVirtualCareerFair will feature a number of companies seeking skilled talent in the automotive, engineering and manufacturing industries.

“Automotive stakeholders across the country are combatting a chronic talent shortage that threatens the productivity of the industry,” said Rob Luce, Director of MICHauto. “The virtual career fair will help automotive employers connect with qualified job seekers to promote the global, high-tech opportunities that exist within their companies. MICHauto is committed to partnering with the MEDC to stimulate the talent pipeline for our state’s foundation industry.”
