Three companies to invest $52.1 million, add 458 jobs in West Michigan

The MEDC today announced MSF approval of three business expansion projects that are expected to generate more than $52 million in investments and add up to 458 new jobs in West Michigan.

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Economic Development Corporation today announced Michigan Strategic Fund approval of three business expansion projects that are expected to generate more than $52 million in investments and add up to 458 new jobs in West Michigan.

“The commitment of these companies to grow and create jobs here demonstrates the significance of our greatly improved business climate and infrastructure,” said MEDC president and CEO Michael A. Finney. Today’s projects, representing a variety of industries, mean more jobs and greater economic opportunities for people in West Michigan.”

The Michigan Strategic Fund approved incentives for the following projects:

Herbruck Poultry Ranch, Inc. is a family owned egg producer in headquartered in the Village of Saranac (Ionia County). The company has opportunities to expand its egg production and processing facilities, investing up to $33 million and creating 50 jobs. As a result of the expansion, Herbruck has been awarded a $500,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Herbruck will use this grant and invest its own $1.5 million to build a sanitary sewer pipeline to connect two more of its egg processing facilities to the Lakewood Waste Authority treatment system. Once completed, the $2 million pipeline will be donated to the Authority. This will further increase the rural infrastructure and enhance growth potential in the area. Local residences and business will be able to hook up to this system. The LWA has waived the sanitary sewer connection fee of $405,000.

INglass USA, Inc. is a newly-formed subsidiary of Inglass SPA, an Italian-based company that produces lighting molds and hot runner for the plastic injection field especially for the automotive industry. Inglass, with its HRSflow division, is expanding into the U.S. with a new production plant in Michigan for the manufacture of hot runner systems for the American market. The company made this decision in order to better serve its current customers as well as identify new customers in the U.S. and plans to build a new production facility in Byron Township. The project will generate a total capital investment of up to $17.6 million and create up to 109 new jobs, resulting in a $300,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over competing sites in Indiana, Ohio and Canada. Byron Township is offering a property tax abatement in support of the project. 

NOVO 1, Inc., part of the new Dialog-Direct, is a leading provider of customer care solutions, with ten locations around the U.S. including Holland and Highland Park, MI. The company’s contact centers are near capacity and additional space is required to meet new client needs. The company plans to open a new facility in Grand Rapids, within Cascade Township, investing a total of $1.5 million and creating up to 299 jobs over three years. As a result, the company has been awarded a $550,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over a competing site in Texas.
