LANSING, Mich – Job seekers looking to participate in the state’s largest-ever job matchmaking summit face a fast-approaching deadline to apply online for the 1,200 jobs at Pure Michigan DREAMJOB being held in June at Ford Field.

More than 110 of the state’s leading businesses will interview qualified job candidates for high-skill, high-pay positions using an innovative matchmaking format. Wednesday, April 30, is the last day to apply online to be among job seekers invited to participate.

“Pure Michigan DREAMJOB signals our commitment to grow jobs in Michigan through the talents and strong work ethic of our people. Michigan companies today have thousands of open positions and are looking for qualified people to fill them,” said Governor Rick Snyder. “In a competitive global economy, talent is the difference that spells success and Michigan stands apart with leading edge programs to match businesses with talented people needed to grow our economy.”

More than 110 Michigan employers from across the state will seek to fill more than 1,200 positions through an innovative matchmaking format that pairs qualified candidates with available job openings. Each employer will be stationed in its own booth for walk-ups and will have private space for interviews with candidates who have been pre-screened for the invitation-only matchup.

Jobs will be posted to www.puremichigandreamjob.com where candidates will be able to view and apply for one or more positions. More than 1,000 job seekers have set up profiles on the website with 670 filing applications for at least one position with two weeks remaining before the application deadline.

MEDC teams will work with participating employers to pre-qualify applicants for a series of 20-minute interviews throughout the day. Once approved, candidates will receive their interview schedules. The all-day event will also include information about living in Michigan, tours of downtown work spaces, networking reception and an opportunity to attend a Tigers game.

“Talent is the new currency in economic development and the surest way to grow our economy,” said Michael Finney, President and CEO of MEDC. “Pure Michigan DREAMJOBS is an innovative way to match the talent needs of Michigan companies with people who can provide experience, capabilities and energies that companies require to succeed. At the same time, it means new job opportunities for our people who can bring highly valued talents to many of the biggest names in Michigan business.”
