Media representatives are invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT²) program on Wednesday, September 4 to recognize the 11 employers and inaugural class of 30 students taking part in the 2013 MAT² Fall
LANSING, Mich. – Media representatives are invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT²) program on Wednesday, September 4 to recognize the 11 employers and inaugural class of 30 students taking part in the 2013 MAT² Fall Session.
The MAT² program is a groundbreaking initiative that combines classroom instruction with paid work experience in a three-year, no-cost program in the field of mechatronics, a combination of mechanical engineering, electronics, computer technology and information technology.
The ceremony will feature a panel discussion of the advantages of this dual education program that allows students to earn an associate’s degree while they also earn a paycheck and gain on-the-job experience. The panelists will include representatives from Brose North America, Cadillac Automotive Products, Detroit Diesel, EMAG, FTE Automotive USA, Inc., Heller, Henry Ford Community College, Inergy Automotive Systems, Kostal North America, New Center Stamping, Oakland Community College, Proper Group International and ZF.
The panel will be moderated by Steve Hilfinger, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
