Paul Riser, director of Detroit Urban Solutions at TechTown Detroit, takes us “In the Zone” at Detroit’s longest standing SmartZone, which was founded over 15 years ago.

Offering coworking space and full office space use, TechTown supports collaboration not only for tenants but for the entire community.

As home to over 370 entrepreneurs and three physical locations across Detroit, TechTown offers an extensive list of educational and informational sessions through a network of partners to support and codevelop entrepreneurs.

Many well know startups have used the TechTown space, such as MySwimPro, SpellBound and Sentinl, as the SmartZone offers programs for all levels of entrepreneurial interest, including summer college programs.

Michigan SmartZones offer localized, low-cost co-working spaces, training mentorship to entrepreneurs, researchers and startups in 21 locations across the state. With funding from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, these business accelerators and incubators help tenants fast-track their business concepts from ideation into commercialization by providing them the resources they need to grow.
