22,700 new jobs added since 2019 in Michigan’s Finance, Professional Services and Information Industry

  • As of August 2022, Michigan's financial services sector, which includes jobs in banking, investing, insurance, and real estate, gained 17,000 jobs.
  • Job growth has also been seen in the professional and Business Services sector as jobs in technical services, consulting, and managerial positions in businesses have grown by 5,000 jobs since 2019.
  • Michigan's Information sector has also grown by 700 jobs since 2019. This sector includes jobs in high-speed internet expansion, data processing, and film, TV, and digital broadcasting.

“Michigan’s economy continues to diversify, and I am proud of the strong growth we have seen in our finance, professional services, and information industries over the last couple of years, building on our overall economic momentum,” said Governor Whitmer. “In the last few years, we have added 22,700 more jobs in these key industries, offering more Michiganders paths to prosperity in their communities.
