The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is hiring for the following corporate position.

Pay Grade and Annual Salary: Pay Grade 5: $95,987 - $131,982

Brief Job Description:

The Legislative Affairs Manager serves as a liaison between the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Michigan’s legislature, advocating for the MEDC’s legislative priorities and statewide economic development initiatives. This role supports the MEDC’s annual budget process and plays a key part in shaping and advancing government programs aligned with the organization’s mission. The Manager maintains strong relationships with the Governor’s Office, legislators, and legislative staff, assisting with committee hearings and other legislative functions. Additionally, the Manager leads legislative communications by identifying and engaging legislative offices & staff, monitoring policy developments, and ensuring timely, strategic responses to legislative changes that impact the MEDC and the state.

This position is based at MEDC Headquarters in Lansing and may work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 2 days of in-office work required.

Supervisor: Bree Anderson, Vice President, Legislative Affairs

Minimum Education Required:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Political Science, Communications, Business, or a related field.  

Minimum Experience Required:

Five years of related experience.

Experience working with state legislative processes, including drafting legislation and the legislative budget process, public speaking, and/or experience in economic development or local government; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
