In the heart of Michigan’s capital city, entrepreneur Rob Zondervan is working to improve patient care. His startup, Steridev, developed the first fully functional sterile case and transfer mechanism for cell phones, tablets, and other mobile devices for use in clinical settings.

First finding success at local pitch competitions, Rob also received support from Michigan’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and credits Michigan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, along with the state's hospitals, availability of funding, and vast manufacturing capabilities, as being major benefits to his startup’s success.

Steridev is part of MEDC’s Entrepreneurs in Elevators video series that follows serial entrepreneur and innovator, David Ollila as he connects with some of the most passionate entrepreneurs and innovative companies across Michigan. Follow along with the series to hear their stories of trials and triumphs, and learn about the ecosystem in the state that allowed them to bring their ideas to life. Contact the MEDC Entrepreneurship and Innovation team to learn more about entrepreneurial opportunities in Michigan and to gain access to valuable business resources.
