3Con Corporation is establishing its North American headquarters in the City of Wixom with support from the MSF and MEDC

LANSING, Mich. – 3Con Corporation, doing business as 3Con USA, is establishing its North American headquarters in the City of Wixom with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced today. The project is expected to generate $6.4 million in new private investment and add 136 new jobs.

“3Con’s investment means Michigan residents will find good job opportunities that could well have gone to other states,” said MEDC Chief Executive Officer Steve Arwood. “3Con’s decision to establish its North American headquarters here underscores Michigan’s business-friendly environment and a manufacturing talent pool that can compete with any place in the world.”

3Con Corporation, dba 3Con USA, is a specialty equipment supplier to the automotive interior systems market. The company plans to establish its North American presence by initially leasing a building in the City of Wixom to house its North American headquarters and R&D operations. Within five years the company plans to build its own permanent facility. The project will generate a total capital investment of $6.4 million and create 136 jobs, resulting in a $550,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over a competing site in South Carolina. The City of Wixom has offered property tax abatement in support of the project. “3Con is extremely pleased with the ability of the state of Michigan to help bridge the gap for our organization. Both Michigan and 3Con will benefit from our location here as opposed to competing states,” said 3Con President of US Operations Raymond Costello. “The automotive talent pool and infrastructure cannot be compared to anywhere else in the nation. For those reasons, we have planted our permanent roots here in Oakland County and have begun hiring. Come on out and join our team!”

The Michigan Business Development Program provides grants, loans and other economic assistance to qualified businesses that make investments or create jobs in Michigan, with preference given to businesses that need additional assistance for deal-closing and for second stage gap financing.

The MSF considers a number of factors in making these awards, including: out-of-state competition, private investment in the project, business diversification opportunities, near-term job creation, wage and benefit levels of the new jobs, and net-positive return to the state. Business retention and retail projects are not eligible for consideration of these incentives.
