Opportunity to learn about tools to grow flourishing communities

LANSING -- The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is hosting a Community Assistance Workshop on August 25 in Kalamazoo.

“This is a golden opportunity for economic developers and local officials to learn about all the tools available to facilitate strong communities,” said MEDC President and CEO Michael A. Finney. “Putting Michigan’s economic and community development tools to work can help make communities more attractive to residents, visitors, employers and employees.”

The presentation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.  in the board room of Southwest Michigan First, located at 241 E. Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo. The workshop is hosted by Southwest Michigan First.

The cost to attend is $15. Lunch will be included at no additional charge.

The Community Assistance workshops will provide overviews on the Michigan Brownfield and CDBG programs. Community leaders will be able to discuss challenges and share solutions with each other and discuss specific projects and topics with MEDC’s CATeam.
