Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) President and CEO James C. Epolito today announced Matthew H. Rick has been appointed to serve as vice president and general counsel, effective May 12. Rick joins the MEDC after serving in the Michigan Department of Attorney General, most recently as an attorney transactional specialist.
“Matthew’s extensive background in state government and working with a number of state boards and programs is a perfect match for the MEDC,” Epolito said. “His expertise will boost our economic development efforts, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”
As Assistant Attorney General, Rick has represented the Michigan Economic Growth Authority and worked on behalf of the Michigan Strategic Fund as part of the state of Michigan/MEDC Club Keno litigation. He also represented the Michigan House of Representatives in their efforts to refinance the Anderson House Office Building.
Rick holds a juris doctorate degree from the Detroit College of Law. He replaces Julie Karkosak, who has served as MEDC’s general counsel since 2006.
