In this edition of “In the Zone,” Lean Rocket Lab founder and CEO, Brandon Marken, takes us behind-the-scenes at Jackson’s manufacturing-tech accelerator.

At the intersection between manufacturing and technology, The Lean Rocket Lab supports entrepreneurs within the high-tech manufacturing space that is fully stocked with an onsite entrepreneur-in-residence, “Zen phone booth” and locally roasted coffee, helping remove collaborative barriers as Downtown Jackson’s first coworking space.

The Lab provides 24/7 access to support to all its members, including entrepreneurs and solopreneurs. Inside The Lab is an extensive professional service network, consisting of ‘Manu-Tech’ focused service providers, like intellectual property attorneys, product designers and software development. Additionally, the Jackson Area Manufacturer’s Association has an office onsite to help connect commercialization ready startups with engineering and manufacturing resources. The manufacturing readiness incubator connects manufacturing and technology focused startups with mentors, capital, resources, patent attorneys and other services needed to validate, commercialize and grow their businesses. This ecosystem of innovation also provides access to local manufacturers with expertise in aerospace, automotive and medical device manufacturing. Start-up incubation and acceleration in The Lab also includes access to the resources of other SmartZone partners, like the manufacturability analysis at the Centrepolis Accelerator at LTU.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation Entrepreneurship & Innovation team supports incubators such as Lean Rocket Lab and assists high-tech startups and entrepreneurs find the programs, services, and expert counsel to accelerate research, license intellectual property to form companies, create jobs, support early-stage growth and engage with other Michigan businesses.
