Danny Ellis of SkySpecs knows it takes a village to raise a startup. His software company has the potential to impact several major industries by changing the way large infrastructure is inspected. He shares his story, lessons learned, and advice for budding entrepreneurs.

Based in Ann Arbor, SkySpecs is an automated inspection company that develops software for industrial drones to autonomously inspect large infrastructure, such as wind turbines. The company first got its start by working with the University of Michigan’s Center for Entrepreneurship who provided them with valuable business resources, including connecting them to the Ann Arbor Spark and MEDC. This hands on approach is what Danny says sets Michigan’s entrepreneurial climate apart from other states. In addition, Michigan’s central location allows SkySpecs to easily serve customers anywhere in the world.
