JT Weis moved back to Michigan from Paris (yes, Paris!) to lead Abcor Industries, an innovative company disrupting the building and furniture markets with its powder coating technology. The inventive products, collaborative environment and supportive nature of the region drew him in—for good.

Abcor Industries was named in the “Top 50 Companies to Watch” in 2016 and now, just a few short years later, is suppling Google offices with many of their furniture needs — including adjustable height desks and collaborative work spaces. Weis credits much of this success to the entrepreneurial ecosystem alive in Michigan and the assistance they received from Michigan’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
