DETROIT, Mich. – Join Pure Michigan for an exciting night at Comerica
Park on Friday, June 1 as the Detroit Tigers take on the Toronto Blue Jays. The
ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Linda Hoath, lifelong Michigan
resident and executive director of the Sault Area Convention and Visitors
At this year’s Pure Michigan night at Comerica Park, the first 10,000 fans will
receive a custom Detroit Tigers-Pure Michigan koozie. In addition, one lucky
attendee will win a ticket to a Tigers game and a Detroit Tigers-Pure Michigan
T-shirt. Tickets to the game are still available.
As part of the evening, Pure Michigan will be recognizing the city of Sault
Ste. Marie, which is celebrating its 350th birthday this year and is
Michigan’s first city. The Upper Peninsula community is holding a year-long
historic celebration to commemorate its unique heritage, with events such as
the 350th Festival, “Rendezvous in the Sault” with displays,
presentations, and reenactments, and many others.
the executive director of the Sault Ste. Marie Convention and Visitors Bureau
and a lifelong resident of SaultSte. Marie,
I am honored to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Pure Michigan game.
This year, Sault Ste. Marie turns 350 years old, and we couldn’t be more
excited about the celebration to come,” Hoath said. “The opportunity to be
involved in the Pure Michigan game excites me, too, because I used to bring my
children to a Tiger’s game every summer. It was a family tradition for us. So,
to combine two things I am passionate about is a fantastic opportunity.”
Pure Michigan Day at Comerica Park is
part of a partnership with the Detroit Tigers that also includes Pure Michigan
branding on the dugout railings and benches, as well as advertising on
TigerVision and the scoreboard throughout the regular season.
“Pure Michigan night at Comerica
Park is an excellent opportunity to celebrate our fans and help elevate
awareness about Michigan to a national audience, and we’re excited to
participate again this year,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel
Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “This event is
a great way to bring people to downtown Detroit and celebrate our partnership
with the Detroit Tigers.”
Millions of fans are anticipated to be in attendance at Comerica Park this
year, with more than 25 million television viewers expected to watch Detroit
Tigers baseball in 2018. Additionally, close to 2,000 visiting media – local,
national and international – come to Comerica Park each year to cover teams
competing against the Tigers.
The game begins at 7:10 ET.
