Opportunity to provide tools for economic developers and local officials to grow flourishing communities

Lansing -- The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is hosting a Community Development Workshop on July 21 in South Haven.

“This is a golden opportunity for economic developers and local officials to learn about all the tools available to facilitate strong communities,” said MEDC President and CEO Michael A. Finney. “Putting Michigan’s economic and community development tools to work can help make communities more attractive to residents, visitors, employers and employees.”

The presentation will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Haven City Hall located at 539 Phoenix Street. The workshop is hosted by the City of South Haven. The cost to attend is $40.

The workshop will focus on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant administration, including federal laws and regulations. Attendees will learn about environmental review, Uniform Relocation Act, labor standards, record keeping requirements and more. First-time grantees or those looking to apply for a grant in the next two years are highly encouraged to attend.
