MEDC and CEO James C. Epolito today announced a RFP to assist in the development and execution of a combined one-year travel leisure and business e-marketing campaign as part of the MEDC’s overall economic development and jobs creation mission

Michigan Economic Development Corporation President and CEO James C. Epolito today announced a request for proposals (RFP) to assist in the development and execution of a combined one-year travel leisure and business e-marketing campaign as part of the MEDC’s overall economic development and jobs creation mission.

“Michigan is undertaking the most comprehensive and aggressive strategy in the nation to diversify our economy and grow new high-technology industries and jobs,” Epolito said. “This new e-Marketing campaign will complement our ‘Upper Hand’ and ‘Pure Michigan’ efforts to show that whether you want to grow a business or take a vacation, Michigan is a great destination.”

Travel Michigan, a division of the MEDC, is the state of Michigan’s official agency for promotion of tourism. The industry contributes $18.8 billion in visitor spending to the state’s economy annually, accounting for 200,000 jobs and generating $1.1 billion in state tax revenues. The selected proposal will complement the Travel Michigan multimedia marketing program aimed at increasing traveler visits and spending.

On the business side, the MEDC seeks to develop and implement an e-marketing program fostering positive perceptions of Michigan as a place to do business and increase national and in-state business development leads. It is aimed primarily at high technology business executives and site consultants.

The RFP is available online at www.MichiganBusiness.org/public-notices-rfps/ along with specifics on the application process. Proposals, seven (7) hard copies and one electronic version, must be submitted no later than 5:00 pm on July 7.

Potential bidders are invited to submit questions via e-mail to contracts&grants@michigan.org. E-mailed questions must be received no later than 5:00 pm on June 13. Responses to all qualifying questions will be posted online at www.MichiganBusiness.org/public-notices-rfps/ by the close of business on June 20.
