Accumulated Total of More Than $2.3 Million Awarded This Year
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced $904,948 in the latest round of Economic Development Job Training Grants today.A total of 19 grants will be used to help improve the job skills of 1,725 Michigan workers at 19 Michigan companies.
“Michigan’s strong workforce is one of this state’s greatest assets,” said Doug Rothwell, president and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.“Economic Development Job Training Grants help ensure that Michigan continues to supply the demand for top-notch, high-tech workers.”
The program helps Michigan businesses create new jobs or retain existing jobs by improving the skills and competitiveness of Michigan’s workforce.Under the requirements of the job training program, employers must provide a 25 percent match for training existing workers.For these grants, employers will provide $552,484 in matching funds.
The funds are provided to local community colleges, vocational-technical schools or other training providers chosen by the employer
