Led by our project managers who are professional entertainers and skilled instructors, teachers and volunteers introduce students to the fundamentals of circus arts - juggling, movement and balancing - in a safe, fun-filled, and educational environment. Teachers and volunteers have an unforgettable experience as they are transformed into circus arts instructors, choreographers, stage hands, wardrobe chiefs & make-up artists.

Copper Tom is a full time children's music songwriter, performer & storyteller who specializes in shows for schools & libraries.

In addition to prewsenting his music- much of it original compositions from his award-winning CDs or new material, he also tells wonderful stories in a way that can be readily understood by listeners of all ages. His current featured story is called "The Sea of Gold". It is a Japanese folk tale of human kindness & understanding triumphing over fear & closed-mindedness. It has been aclaomed for being spell-binding, surprising and inspirational!

Dan has been a featured instructor at many institutions, festivals, music events and conferences. Through his forty plus years of experience in the music industry, he has put together a carefully constructed program of instruction that is useful for songwriters of all levels of experience from the absolute beginner to the very experienced writer. Workshops and courses can be custom designed to fit into particular schedules and events. Dan has presented workshops that range from a one hour seminar to a complete two week course. Both fun and challenging, these workshops are highly interactive and involve a large degree of participation by those attending.

These workshops have been a hit at festivals, parades, pediatric hospitals and community centers around North America, bringing the joy of music to thousands of children and adults.

DCWS is committed to offering quality activities in schools, from pre-K through college. The institution has developed an array of programs that span the educational spectrum.

In addition to its curriculum-based elementary-school programming, DCWS provides coachings, master classes, open rehearsals, and informal performances for middle and high school students. The organization has ongoing partnerships with schools in Troy, Birmingham, Dearborn, and Pontiac. Other schools that have benefited from educational services include University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods, Berkley, and Detroit Country Day

“Dance Is Education” - DDC provides creative arts education opportunities for children of all ages and abilities. The purpose of our residencies is to integrate the arts into the classroom curriculum, and to enhance inclusion, learning and teaching. DDC offers in school residencies that combine performances and classes; and often collaborates with classroom teachers to present a “show and share” event of the students’ creative work to students, teachers, administrators, parents and other guests.

Donald Ramlow, founder, director, and performer with the classic radio All Ears Theatre in Kalamazoo, describes the radio of the 1920s and demonstrates the sounds, styles, and effects of the early days of radio.

Double Play flute and tuba has been active as a performing/touring ensemble since 1989. Although based in Farmington Hills, MI; this husband and wife team travels the country extensively each year, entertaining and educating audiences of all ages in a variety of venues from concert halls to classrooms. Performances include the music of “Bach to Broadway,“ accompanied by a variety of humorous and historical anecdotes.

Eisenhower Dance Ensemble

With health and fitness in mind, the class will encourage students to keep fit through dance. The class will also reinforce locomotor skills, concepts such as opposites (up/down, fast/slow, left/right), creativity, and a love for the arts.

Each 45 minute class will be taught in your own preschool environment by staff from the Eisenhower Dance Center. Many of our teachers are past or present members of the Eisenhower Dance Professional Company. We hope that you will take advantage of this fun opportunity for your students.

Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History

Jackson Jackson

The Ella Sharp Museum offers both art and history outreach programs for school children. “Jackson’s Underground Railroad” (History Goes to School Program): Elementary classes learn about the history of the Underground Railroad in Jackson, and how a secret code of quilt patterns may have helped set escaping slaves on the right path. We bring the program into the classroom, saving schools all transportation costs. Students learn about the Underground Railroad, Jackson’s role in the anti-slavery movement, and engage in a “make and take” art project.

Arts Go To School: One of the Museum’s most beloved programs, AGTS takes art into kindergarten through 6th grade classrooms via trained Museum volunteers, who expose students to art concepts and prints using the Visual Thinking Strategies Techniques (VTS). Six classroom visits alternate VTS kits and informational kits. AGTS brings art to many schools that have been forced to eliminate their programs due to budget constraints. Materials are geared specifically for each grade level.

Equinox has traversed the state to share their American-seasoned Celtic music and song with the people of Michigan. Adding bagpipes, hand drums, bass and guitar to traditional Irish whistles, flute, fiddle and concertina, Equinox ignites the stage with all of the passion and joy Celtic music can inspire. With their crisp vocals and diverse instrumentation, this ensemble has been featured in such venues as fundraising cruises for public radio, a Farmington Hills church concert, a Thumb eco-fair, a farm wedding, an outdoor library performance and many music and folk festivals. FYT’s InterACT outreach program provides engaging hands-on activities for students in kindergarten through 12th grade and their teachers. By working with an experienced theatre educator from FYT’s resident company, students experience how theatre can be used as a dynamic tool to improve comprehension and retention while increasing self-expression, self-discipline and self-worth. Whether it’s finding ways to deepen students’ understanding of curriculum, increasing collaboration and cooperation, developing cognitive, social, emotional and physical abilities or simply going “behind the scenes” of a working theatre, InterACT has a program suited to all needs.
