Anmar K. Sarafa is the founder, President and CIO of Steward Capital Management, Inc. an SEC registered investment firm established in 1988 and headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. SCM provides investment management and advisory services to both high net worth individuals, families, and institutional investors.
Sarafa was appointed to the MEDC Executive Committee in 2012.
Managing Member of Steward Real Estate Management, LLC and Steward Opportunity Management, LLC. Both firms are General Partners of Funds that invest in privately held debt and equity securities, including real estate, mortgages, and short-term secured notes.
Joint Managing Member of Munros Capital Management, LLC, a Michigan based, SEC registered advisory firm that offers a European SmallCap strategy to U.S. based investors managed by its affiliate firm, Munros Capital Management, LLP, which is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Managing Member of Frankenmuth Brewery Real Estate, LLC, one of the oldest operating brewery sites in the United States. Sarafa’s investment group purchased the historic site in January 2009 out of foreclosure, and re-opened it in July 2009 as both a full production brewery as well as a restaurant/banquet facility.
Sarafa and his partners started Oakland Athletic Club (OAC), in 1996, an upscale health and fitness club located in Birmingham, MI. During its 13+ years of operation, OAC was repeatedly recognized by Hour Detroit Magazine as the Best Health Club in Oakland County.
Education and Personal
Sarafa holds a BBA degree (’82) and an MBA degree (‘86) from the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has also earned the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute (’90). Over his career, he has held agent licenses in both Real Estate and Insurance, as well as numerous FINRA licenses including Series 3 (National Commodity Futures), Series 7 (General Securities Representative), and Series 24 (General Securities Principal).
Sarafa is a member of the CFA Society of Detroit, the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, and Shenandoah Country Club. Among his civic and charitable commitments, Sarafa serves as a Board member of the Detroit Zoological Society and Charity Celebration, and has Co-Chaired fundraisers on behalf of the Iraqi Adopt-A-Refugee-Family program. He has been recognized as one of Crain Detroit’s “Top 40 under 40.”
