The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is hiring for the following corporate position.
Job Title and Level: Small Business Specialist
Type of Employment: Full-Time
Pay Grade and Annual Salary: Grade 4; Pay grade 4 begins at $68,800 annually. Additional compensation consideration given based on relevant skills, education and experience.

The Small Business Specialist is responsible for implementing professional and technical assistance, resources, and services to place-based support organization and the small businesses those organizations serve. The position will work with internal and external partners to deliver services that support capacity building, develop small business support tools and resources, and deploy resources at the local level. This position will assist in the deployment of the Small Business Services programming by developing implementation strategies which result in alignment with the MEDC’s micro & place-based business support strategy and impact revitalization efforts in traditional commercial districts. This position will participate in collaborative efforts with Community Development teams state-wide and the Business Development team, when appropriate, to foster small business growth and revitalization.

Minimum Education Required:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Urban Planning, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience Required:
This position requires a minimum of three to five years related experience and/or training in small business counseling, development, or community or economic development or other related activity. Experience providing specialized technical assistance to micro or place-based businesses and experience working with small business support organizations is preferred.
