The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is hiring for the following corporate position.
Job Title and Level: RRC Planner
City/County: Lansing/Ingham (Temporarily Remote); Field-based option within Regions 5, 7, or 9
Type of Employment: Full-Time
Pay Grade and Annual Salary: Grade 4; Pay grade 4 begins at $68,800 annually. Additional compensation consideration given based on relevant skills, education and experience.

The Redevelopment Ready Communities® (RRC) program is offered by MEDC to municipalities across the state. RRC is a voluntary, no cost certification program promoting effective redevelopment strategies through a set of best practices. The program measures and then certifies communities that integrate transparency, predictability and efficiency into their daily development practices.
The RRC Planner provides planning, zoning and economic development technical expertise to communities in the RRC program. The incumbent will review planning, zoning and economic development documents in order to make recommendations and provide technical assistance to achieve RRC certification. This position will cover Regions 5, 7, and 9.

Minimum Education Required:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Urban and Regional Planning, Public Administration or other related degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience Required:
This position requires a minimum of three to five years of experience and/or training in urban and/or community planning, economic development or other local government related activity. An AICP certification preferred.
The preferred candidate will have experience working on planning projects, including master/comprehensive plan updates, zoning code updates, and design guidelines; have the ability to understand planning, zoning and placemaking principles and practices; and will be familiar with local government planning and development operations and procedures.
