Type of Employment: Full-Time
Pay Grade and Annual Salary: Pay Grade 6: $105,600-$152,960
Brief Job Description:
Serves as the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) liaison and representative to Michigan’s legislative leadership to seek/facilitate passage of identified legislative priorities for the MEDC, other important statewide economic development initiatives, and support the annual budget process for the MEDC. Develops, recommends, and monitors effective government programs to support the interests of the MEDC; develops and cultivates positive relationships with the Governor’s Office, key legislators and legislative staff. Represents the MEDC at legislative committee hearings and various legislative activities and functions. Directs MEDC legislative communications efforts by researching, identifying and facilitating communication with opinion leaders in order to ensure responsiveness to changes across Michigan and strengthen MEDC’s ability to serve the State of Michigan.

Supervisor: Bree Andersen, Vice President of Legislative & External Affairs
Minimum Education Required:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Political Science, Communications, Business, or a related field.
Minimum Experience Required:
This position requires a minimum of five to seven years of related experience working with state legislative processes, including drafting legislation and the legislative budget process, public speaking, and/or experience in economic development or local government; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
