CURRENT FOCUS

Michael C. Taylor was elected to his 1st term on the Sterling Heights City Council in 2009. In both 2011 and 2013, he was re-elected with the highest number of votes, earning him the position of Mayor Pro Tem. Following the passing of former Mayor Notte, Michael was confirmed and sworn-in as Mayor of Sterling Heights in December 2014. Mayor Taylor was elected as Sterling Heights Mayor in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 elections.

In 2013, Michael was elected as the presiding officer of the Millennial Mayor’s Congress. Michael is a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and in 2020 he was appointed the Vice Chair of the Conference’s Manufacturing and Career and Technical Education Task Force.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Michael is also a partner at the law firm of Kirk, Huth, Lange & Badalamenti, PLC where he to represent individuals and families in guardianship and conservator proceedings, probate and trust administration and litigation, fiduciary representation and estate planning.

EDUCATION/PERSONAL

He is a graduate of the Wayne State University Law School. Prior to earning his law degree, Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Kalamazoo College, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
