LANSING, Mich – The Michigan Economic Development Corporation today announced the state’s largest ever matchmaking summit to bring Michigan employers with job openings together with skilled and talented people from across the state and around the country. Pure Michigan DREAMJOB will take place at Ford Field in Detroit on June 13, 2014, with many of the state’s leading businesses looking to meet with job candidates using an innovative matchmaking format.

“Talent is one of Michigan’s most valuable advantages for growing businesses and Pure Michigan DREAMJOB will bring together both companies and jobseekers to build their futures here,” said Governor Rick Snyder. “It will be the knowledge, skills and hard work of our workforce that separate Michigan from others in a competitive global marketplace. This is a showcase opportunity for all that makes Michigan a great place to live, work, build a business and enjoy our unique quality of life.”

More than 80 Michigan employers from across the state will seek to fill more than 800 positions through an innovative matchmaking format that pairs qualified candidates with available job openings. Each employer will be stationed in its own booth for walk-ups and will have private space for interviews with candidates who have been pre-screened for the invitation-only matchup.

A comprehensive national advertising campaign, along with coordinated efforts with universities, associations and other talent resources will be mounted to attract resumes from qualified candidates. Jobs will be posted to an event-specific web portal – to be announced in coming weeks -- where candidates will be able to view and apply for one or more positions.

MEDC teams will work with participating employers to pre-qualify applicants for a series of 20-minute interviews throughout the day. Once approved, candidates will receive their interview schedules. The all-day event will also include information about living in Michigan, tours of downtown work spaces, networking reception and an opportunity to attend a Tigers game.

“Talent is the new currency in economic development and the surest way to grow our economy,” said Michael Finney, President and CEO of MEDC. “Pure Michigan DREAMJOBS is an innovative way to match the talent needs of Michigan companies with people who can provide experience, capabilities and energies companies require to succeed. At the same time, it means new job opportunities for our people who can bring highly valued talents to many of the best names in Michigan business.”

Participating companies include Quicken Loans, Whirlpool, Bosch, Lear, Delphi, Nissan, McCann Erickson, Roush, and Microsoft. These and other companies are seeking candidates for positions in a wide range of fields, including but not limited to: engineering, design, project management, supply chain management, finance, operations, sales, marketing and software development.

Pure Michigan is a brand representing business, talent and tourism initiatives across Michigan. These efforts are driven by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, which serves as the state’s marketing arm and lead advocate for business growth, jobs and opportunity with a focus on helping grow Michigan’s economy.
