MEDC Portal Designed to Encourage Collaboration
A new online directory of Michigan businesses and organizations is being launched today on the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Web site, www.michigan.org.The directory is designed to facilitate growth opportunities for Michigan firms by making it easier for companies and organizations to learn about each other's products and services.
“This directory is a valuable, new resource for Michigan-based businesses and organizations,” said Doug Rothwell, president & CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.“We encourage all business and organization leaders to visit the site regularly to update or add their information. Then, be prepared for new opportunities to come as a result.”
The free service is available to all Michigan companies and is searchable by numerous industry categories. It will be pre-populated with about 5,100 Michigan businesses that specialize in advanced manufacturing, information technology or life sciences.A letter was recently sent to the leaders at these businesses requesting them to update and add to their profiles.
Other Michigan-based businesses and organizations are encouraged to add their profile information to the directory as well. The directory allows each group to control the level of information in the listing and to change the listing as often as needed.
The Michigan.org Web site welcomes more than 2.7 million visitors annually, averaging about 228,000 visitors per month.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, a partnership between the state and local communities, promotes smart economic growth by developing strategies and providing services to create and retain good jobs and a high quality of life.
