Doug Rothwell, Chief Executive Officer and Department Director of the Michigan Jobs Commission, today announced the award of a $5,000 dislocated worker grant to the Kalamazoo/St. Joseph Michigan Works! agency based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This award will help workers affected by layoff from the General Motors Corporation in Kalamazoo. "We are committed to helping workers get back to work as quickly as possible and to increasing the availability of quality services and training options," said Rothwell. "The funds will be used for emergency assistance to facilitate immediate assistance and basic readjustment services to the workers and their families affected by this layoff," said Rothwell. Funding for the Economic Dislocation and Worker Adjustment Assistance Act is made available by the federal Job Training Partnership Act administered through the Michigan Jobs Commission. The Kalamazoo/St. Joseph Michigan Works! agency serves the entire Kalamazoo/St. Joseph area.
