Doug Rothwell, Chief Executive Officer and Department Director of the Michigan Jobs Commission today announced the award of a $25,000 dislocated worker grant to the Thumb Area Michigan Works! Agency based in Marlette, Michigan. This award will help workers affected by layoff from Dean Pickles in Croswell, Michigan. "We are committed to helping workers get back as quickly as possible and to increasing the availability of quality services and training options," said Rothwell. "The funds will be used for emergency assistance to facilitate immediate assistance and basic readjustment services to the workers and their families affected by this layoff," said Rothwell. Funding for the Economic Dislocation and Worker Adjustment Assistance Act is made available by the federal Job Training Partnership act administered through the Michigan Jobs Commission. The Thumb Area Michigan Works! Agency servers the counties of Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, and Tuscola.
