Former Legislator Brings Vast Experience
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) recently announced that former Macomb County State Senator Ken DeBeaussaert has joined the MEDC staff as the Vice President of Legislative Relations.
DeBeaussaert’s new duties include working with the legislature on economic development initiatives and acting as liaison to local chamber and trade organizations.
“We are very pleased that Ken has agreed to join our team,” said Sabrina Keeley, MEDC’s chief operating officer.“His years of legislative experience will be invaluable to help move important economic development issues forward and keep Michigan’s economy on the move.”
Before joining the MEDC, DeBeaussaert served two terms as a Michigan State Senator from Macomb County.Prior to his time in the Senate, he served for 10 years in the Michigan House of Representatives.He also has worked in the Michigan offices of two members of Congress and served as the Governor’s representative to the Great Lakes Commission, an interstate organization formed by federal compact.
“I am proud to be a part of this top-notch organization,” said DeBeaussaert. “I hope to help continue the MEDC’s first class reputation by collaborating with communities and the Legislature to make sure economic issues are addressed to effectively assist our state’s business community.”
