Local Economic Development Experts Recognized for Excellence
Michigan Economic Development Corporation President and CEO James Epolito today announced that Janis Kellogg, economic development specialist with the Northeast Michigan Council of Governments, and Robert Tess, manager of the Economic Development Services Group of the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development, have been selected as the 2005 MEDC Partner of the Year Award winners.
"Janis and Bob are both extremely talented and dedicated individuals who are helping to make their respective communities and the entire state a magnet for business investment, good-paying jobs and a high quality of life," Epolito said. "It is my pleasure to recognize them for being important partners in Michigan's ongoing economic development success."
Kellogg, who serves Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Crawford, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego and Presque Isle counties, has been instrumental in raising awareness of economic development in the area. She has worked with rural counties to establish a local economic development organization, applied for economic development funds on their behalf, initiated the Northeast Economic Network, co-founded the Northern Homes CDC and has worked with several local partners to develop a business incubator in Alcona County.
