Governor John Engler today congratulated SC Johnson on the decision to expand its manufacturing facility in Bay City. The company, which bought Dowbrands, Inc. earlier this year, plans to purchase the 55,000-square-foot Conair Jetro building in Bay City."SC Johnson is a well-established company, with a world famous reputation for high quality consumer products," said Governor Engler. "The company's decision to expand its manufacturing facility in Michigan and create more good paying jobs is great news for the Bay City community and area workers."The Governor also announced that the Michigan Jobs Commission (MJC) has committed to providing an Economic Development Job Training Grant to the company worth an estimated$50,000. This grant, funded through MJC's Economic Development Job Training program, will be conducted by a local education entity to be designated by SC Johnson and will ensure that Bay City residents have the skills they need to fill these jobs. The company, which currently employs more than 200 employees in Michigan, expects to begin operations in its new facility in early 1999.
