MEDC Assistance Backs Project Creating 60 New Jobs
FTF LLC is a spin-off company from REL Machine Company of Calumet which has been doing business since 1990 and is located in the Calumet Renaissance Zone. FTF is currently prototyping metal matrix composite brake rotors at the REL facility and over the next two years plans to go into production at the new FTF plant to be located in the Centennial Mine building. REL currently has 22 employees engaged in the manufacture of machine parts for a number of local companies and has contracts with Big Dog Motorcycle and Belt Drive Ltd.
The township will contribute $100,000 toward the project.
The MEDC is able to award approximately $40 million in federal CDBG funds each year. There are 1,655 local governments within the state eligible to apply for these funds. Projects are approved contingent upon compliance with state and federal requirements.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, a partnership between the state and local communities, promotes smart economic growth by developing strategies and providing services to create and retain good jobs and a high quality of life.
