MEDC’s Chief Executive & Economic Competitiveness Officer, Quentin L. Messer Jr. was a guest on a recent webinar — How the Inflation Reduction Act Changes the Game for Economic Developers.

Sponsored by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), How the Inflation Reduction Act Changes the Game for Economic Developers webinar discussed some of the most important aspects of the federal Inflation Reduction Act and its impacts on economic development.

Passed by Congress in August 2022, The Inflation Reduction Act, is a historic investment that can impact communities and companies developing cleantech within industry clusters around the United States. Curated through the lens of regional economic development and accelerating the clean energy transition, the webinar featured Aaron Brickman and Lachlan Carey from the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI). Together, Quentin, Aaron and Lachlan helped connect the dots between the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS and Science Act, and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Quentin specifically shares his insights as an economic development professional throughout the webinar and provides real-word suggestions for others in economic development, as well as concrete steps to take in order to make the most of the momentum in these important areas.

Whether you are at the state level, regional level or local level there is really an opportunity for all economic developers to work with your local officials, city managers and planning departments to make sure your community takes advantage of the tremendous transformation happening.
