Debt Programs Specialist

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is conducting an internal/external recruitment process to fill the following corporate vacancy:

Job Title and Level: Debt Programs Specialist

City/County: Lansing/Ingham County

Type of Employment: Full-Time

Pay Grade and Annual Salary: Pay Grade 4, $66,120 to $85,880 annually

Brief Job Description: The Debt Programs Specialist is responsible for administrating the technical and administrative aspects of several programs within the unit including the Capital Access Program (CAP), Loan Guaranty Program (LGP), and programs in which the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) acts as a conduit bond issuer. The individual is responsible for monitoring the compliance activities related to multiple programs administered by the Capital Access unit. The individual plays a lead role in ensuring data integrity and assumes a variety of internal and external reporting responsibilities.

Supervisor: Christopher Cook, Director of Capital Access

Minimum Education Required: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Law, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience Required:  This position requires a minimum of three to five years of related experience in processing data and interpreting legislative or other legalistic requirements, administrative support, preferably in economic development and/or government administration and/or commercial lending; and/or experience in knowledge of contracts and property law; and experience with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and calendaring software. CRM system (e.g. Salesforce) experience preferred. Experience with Loan and Partnership agreements, and/or experience reviewing and interpreting IRS/State tax guidance is preferred.
