Established in 1956, Crystal Mountain is a family-owned, four-season resort recognized nationally as one of the Midwest’s premier destinations. In her role as COO, Chris oversees the resort’s many business segments ensuring day-to-day operations are at once sustainable and aligned with this mountain community’s core values. As president of the resort’s development company, she has been integral in the strategy behind and execution of Crystal’s significant growth over the last 30 years.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Crystal Mountain, MacInnes held sales and marketing positions, beginning with Yamaha International in the Sporting Goods Division and, later with J.I. Case Company and McCulloch Corporation.

She and her husband Jim returned to Michigan in 1985 to join Crystal Mountain. Over the last 30 years, they have led $100 million of development and growth, ever-mindful of the resort's core principles, above all, respecting, serving and sustaining people and the environment. Under their leadership this family-owned resort has transitioned from a ski area into a thriving mountain community that has received numerous accolades from the likes of magazines like Parents, SKI and GOLF. In 2014, Chris and Jim earned Hotelier of the Year honors at the Governor’s Conference on Tourism and more recently, Crystal Mountain received the Governor’s Fitness Award for Healthy Workplaces.

Chris is also committed to serving the community and travel industry. She is a former chair of the Michigan Travel Commission and Michigan State Chamber of Commerce. She currently sits on the board for the National Ski Areas Association and locally on Chemical Bank’s Traverse City Community Board and the newly formed TraverseConnect. Previously, Chris has also served on boards for Priority Health, Munson Healthcare, the region’s major healthcare provider, Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Benzie County Economic Development Corporation.
