Some of the most reliable and noted forecasts of the national and Michigan economies are provided by the University of Michigan’s Research Seminar for Quantitative Economics (RSQE). It is an economic modeling and forecasting unit which has been in operation at the University of Michigan since 1952. Four times a year, RSQE provides forecasts of both the U.S. economy and the Michigan economy.
Summaries of the latest Michigan and U.S. RSQE forecasts are available on this website. A subscription provides the complete forecast and analysis of GDP and its major components, unemployment, price, interest rates, foreign trade, etc.
RSQE is directed by Research Professor George A. Fulton. The senior professional staff includes Joan P. Crary and Daniil Manaenkov. RSQE has twice received the prestigious Blue Chip Annual Economic Forecasting Award, AEFA, recognizing “accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism” in economic forecasting.
